Criminologist ROLAND KRISTATOS is back from his long-earned retirement to stop the Bayville Butcher's six-week killing spree. Aided by his trusted associate, he tracks down the butcher, now identified as MANDRAKE PICCOLO, a world-class pianist, to his hideout in an abattoir next to BOB SANDERSON's butcher shop. DARK ZENITH

The DARK ZENITH is a space cruiser navigating across the shoulder of Orion, near the Tännhauser Gate. It is equipped with C-Beams, and an Ocillation Overthruster capable of travelling at MACH 28 speed. The crew of 42 have, however, stopped answering distress calls from home base. The worse is feared. They may all already be dead.
